First I would like to thank my family... :)

Well I got a wonderful surprise today!  I was nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award by Judith, thanks Judith!!  Definitely go check her blog out, she does the most wonderful stitching and finishing.  And there is is just as much finishing as there is stitching which is something I can't say for myself. hehe.

The purpose of this award is for bloggers to nominate fellow bloggers. In order to accept the award, the nominated blogger must follow these rules:

  • thank the person who nominated you and link back
  • Share seven facts about yourself
  • Nominate 10 other bloggers for the award.
1. I have 2 boys Brayden 5 and Thomas 2 and they are the best!
2. I honestly don't remember when I started stitching... probably around 6 or 7?  No clue and I don't remember what I first stitched except that it was something small... maybe an ornament and I don't know where I got it.  Probably from my mother but I just don't know.
3. I am very stubborn or strong willed as my mother says.
4. I was the franchisee of a convenience store when I was 22.  I only did it for a year, which was enough anyways, but I wanted to have kids so I went back to being an employee instead of a boss so I could get my maternity leave.
5. I got my tonsils out when I was in grade 11 and have only had strep throat once since then, which is great as I used to get it 10-15 times a year.
6. I have 1 sister and she is awesome!
7. I have never been on a plane or left Canada.  The furthest I have been from home was a grade 9 class trip to Quebec City.

I would like to nominate:
1.   Heather - She is the president of the stitching guild I belong to and she hasn't posted to her blog in over a year!!  Maybe if some of you write her a comment she will show you all what she has been up to :)
2. Danielle - She does the most wonderful scrapbooking with her stitching.
3. Coffee Stitcher - He is just so creative at adding and changing patterns around, and picking new colors.  He is great to check out for inspiration.
4. Stitching in the Country - Beautiful stitching, and she stitches a lot of things I have never seen before so good enabling blog lol
5. Mini - Cross stitching, cooking, travelling.  What more could you ask for??
6. Jenn - Go check out her Tiny Tatty baby afghan.  I have never wanted to steal from a baby before but I would like to steal this. :)
7. Mel - Cross Stitch Review.  That is all I need to say go check it out for yourself, you will be happy you did :)
8. Cyndi - She is a fairly new blogger and she also makes youtube videos which I really enjoy listening/watching while I stitch.
9. Kimberly - She is a new designer and I don't know how but so far I have held myself back from buying one of each.  If they were offered as pdfs I would be in trouble.
10. Jennifer - She does not have a stitchy blog but more of a life blog.  She is a teacher of small children?  Preschooler's teacher?  Not sure how to word that.  But she has great tutorials on things to do and make with younger kids and how to make them into learning experiences. There also is some diy things if you go back through the archives.

That was so much fun!!!  Thanks again Judith for picking me!

P.S. I just started my first Mirabilia  eeeeek!!!  I don't know why I didn't get one sooner.  Hopefully I will have a picture in a few days!

April TUSAL, Tatting and a New Start!

Hello!  It is time again for TUSAL.  I think I had a pretty good month and the tatting orts really filled my jar up!

I started at the beginning with the tatting again.  One of my friends from the stitching guild is also tatting and she gave me the loan of a beginners tatting book and told me to start at the first and follow the lessons and boy am I glad I did.  I had the idea of how to tat but I wasn't doing it properly and for that reason my pieces weren't laying very nicely.  I am very pleased with how my improved tatting is looking.  I am really looking forward to getting some more colors of thread to try out too.

I have also started Refl-egg-tions in my Mo's Sale silks.  I absolutely love the colors of the silk but it is super slippery and kind of hard to stitch with, but it looks lovely when it is stitched up.  I am really looking forward to having this hanging on my wall next Easter.

Happy Stitching Everyone!!

Temari Tuesdays and Happy Mail!

I finished my Temari ball from Termari Tuesdays at my stitching guild.  It is nowhere near perfect but I am happy with my first attempt at this pattern.  I really need to work on my spacing.

In my mailbox today was my mystery package from Fiberlicious.  They only take orders from facebook and take payments from paypal.  You can also get a 10% discount if you order a mystery pack of 10 or more thread.  These are all cotton floss and they are $2 each.  With the 10% discount, shipping and exchage it came to $24 or so.

From left to right is Gothic Princess, Quiet Stone, Apricot Sunshine, Storm Brewing, Moss, Brumbleberry, Fantasia, Her Majesty, Antique Bliss and Sumantra Haze.  I am so happy with the colors they chose!

I also got some silks and cottons from Mo's Sale.  Cotton is $1 and silk is $1.50.   Up to 15 skeins the shipping $6.55 U.S and then the shipping goes up marginally from there.  All the shipping info is found on their facebook goup Mo's Sale in the files section.  When you buy from the website you pay for the threads and then when it is time to ship she sends you a separate paypal invoice for the shipping.  These were gifted to me by the most wonderful sister a girl could ever ask for :)  Thanks Lil'Sis!!

From left they are Cupcake, Bread, Easter Grass, Easter Egg, Gummy worm and Marine.  The first 4 are silk and I have an Easter pattern in mind for them.

I have no stitching to show yet.  Still plugging away on Hannah Lynn and coming closer to a page finish.
Happy Stitching!!

Dream Big and Donate

Hello there!  Here is my progress on Dream Big.  I am using Mo's Sale threads Eugene and Hades and I am as far as I can go until the baby arrives and I know his name :)

I have a little story to tell.  My blood type is O- and my children's father has a + blood type.  So when I was pregnant with my first child I found out that if my baby had + blood, like his Dad, I could develop antibodies against any future children I had which would have been dangerous to the baby and myself.  But thankfully I live in a time when we are medically advanced enough that this would never be an issue for me.  My first born did have a + blood type and I was given two shots, one during pregnancy and one right after he was born to stop my body from developing these antibodies.  The shots I was given are made from human plasma.  Some wonderful person donated plasma so I could have my wonderful little boy Thomas without any problems.  I am forever thankful for that and because of a strangers kindness I now donate blood.

Right now because of all the storms Canadian Blood (and probably blood donor clinics in other countries) are very low in their blood supply.  If this is something you have thought about doing before now is the time they could really use you.  It takes about 1 hour for the whole process, which only about 10 minutes of is sitting in a chair donating blood.  There are screening questions, and iron test, blood pressure and temperature check.  And after it is all done there is a kitchen with juice and cookies and coffee where you stay for 15 minutes or so just to make sure you are feeling ok.  1 hour all together, that is it.  So if I have talked anybody into donating :) go visit https://www.blood.ca/ - for Canadians.  http://www.redcrossblood.org/ - for Americans
